I wanna be fit more than I wanna drink alcohol, soda, and eat unhealthy food. Once fitness and health become more important than those other things you’ll see results.

This is the fundamental issue

This right here. I actually saw a quote today that said something along the lines of your “whys” have to be stronger than your “why not?” Basically, every time you find yourself about to do something that doesn’t help you towards your goal, stop yourself. “Do I want this cookie more than I want to continue my progress towards ___?”

I’ve been doing strength training for quite some time now, and recently I’ve been thinking about longevity a lot, I do want to be as healthy as possible even in 50 years. Considering that one has almost “maxed out” their muscle gains, what are some more ways to become even more fit and healthy? Running? Cycling? Swimming? Yoga? Plyometrics? Stretching? What would make you a useful physical human?

Hiking, Running, swimming, climbing. The ability to get up and down off the floor. Carrying things in your hands and on your back. Picking things up and putting them over your head. Throwing, catching, jumping.

What is some popular bodybuilding advice that you disagree with?

‘Bulk until you hate the way you look’, doesn’t really work if you have body dysmorphia/hate the way you all year round, which seems to be the case for a lot of people. Also ‘bulk until you lose your abs’, people have different fat distribution. For some people abs are the first to get covered in a layer of fat a couple months into a bulk and others can be 240lbs and still have ab outlines.

Is there any popular advice you disagree with?

It’s getting less popular now but the worship of certain arbitrary movements. “It is impossible to get big pecs without flat bench” or “it is impossible to get big legs without back squats” etc

Also tribalism in regards to training approaches in general
